How to Prepare for a Bike Ride

Before hitting the pavement, proper preparation is key for a safe and enjoyable bike ride. Start by performing the ABC Quick Check: confirm that the Air in your tires is full and firm, the Brakes are working properly, and the Chain and Cranks are lubricated and running smoothly. Ensure your Quick releases are closed, and give the bike and yourself a final Check, making sure shoelaces and any loose clothing are tied and secure.
If you anticipate riding in the dark, enhance your visibility by equipping your bike with a front white light and a rear red light, wearing bright clothes, and including reflectors on your bike, bags, and yourself.

Carry a reliable lock to secure your bike when parked, making sure to lock the bike frame and wheels to a bike rack.

Most importantly, wear a helmet that is properly fitted: it should sit level on your head, with the chin strap snug enough to allow a finger between it and your chin, ensuring it provides proper protection for your journey.

Now you are ready, have a fun ride!
